RM of Chaplin’s story
The Rural Municipality of Chaplin No. 164 became an official rural municipality on January 1, 1913. It lies in the southwest part of Saskatchewan and surrounds the village of Chaplin, where the RM office is found.
Besides Chaplin, the municipality includes the localities of Droxford, Halvorgate, Melaval, Valjean and Uren. Chaplin Lake, a large saline lake, lies within its boundaries.
Today the production of sodium sulphate is a major industry here, alongside grain farming and livestock agriculture.
